Kylo Ren the villain everyone loves to make fun of.

He is also the person a lot of Star Wars fans hate, because (seriously if you haven't seen "The Force Awakens" yet, this is a big spoiler so turn away now, if you don't want any spoilers) he killed his father Han Solo.

Now this act made a lot of people hate Kylo Ren, and made them believe that he could never be redeemed.
However if Luke can forgive and redeem his father, after everything Darth Vader did, why can't the same happen for Darth Vader's grandson.
In "The Force Awakens" we see that Kylo Ren is struggling with the Light side. Or in his words "The pull to the Light."
I know some people don't like Kylo Ren, but he is probably my favorite character to come out of "The Force Awakens", because he is such a complex and interesting character.
We see in the film someone who wants to be on the Darkside, but is also drawn to the Light. We see him feel conflicted, by this pull to the Light.
In the movie however all of Kylo Ren's actions are from the Darkside, even though the Light is calling him.
If you still think Kylo Ren is pure evil, and was planning on killing his father the whole time, I want you to consider what J.J. Abrams said about the scene on the bridge. J.J. Abrams said (and I'm paraphrasing) that he thinks Kylo Ren was actually being convinced to leave the Darkside, and go with Han.
Also if you think Kylo Ren was overjoyed when he killed Han, then are we even watching the same movie?

Seriously look at his face! This is right after he killed Han, does he look happy?
Also in the adult novelization right after Kylo Ren kills Han it says this. "Stunned by his own action, Kylo Ren fell to his knees. Following through on the act ought to have made him stronger, a part of him believed. Instead, he found himself weak."(paragraph 2 page 245)
Does that sound like a man who has no good in him and can not be redeemed? I mean he falls on his knees shocked that he actually killed his father. Sure he killed Han to become stronger in the Darkside, but it backfired on him, it made him weaker.
Also in the adult novelization, right after Kylo Ren tried to interrogate Rey, we get a very interesting conversation between Supreme Leader Snoke and Kylo Ren.
"There was as much curiosity in Supreme Leader Snoke's voice as there was disappointment.
"This scavenger-this girl-resisted you?"
"That's all she is, yes. A scavenger from that inconsequential Jakku. Completely untrained, but strong with the Force. Stronger than she knows."
His mask off, Ren replied with what seemed his usual assurance. No one else would have sensed a difference. Snoke did.
The Supreme Leader's voice was flat.
"You have compassion for her."
"No-never. Compassion? For an enemy of the Order?"
"I perceive the problem," Snoke intoned. "It isn't her strength that is making you fail. It's your weakness."
(paragraphs 2-4 page 207)
So from that conversation we learn that Kylo Ren has empathy for Rey. I mean a person who was totally on the Darkside wouldn't have compassion for anyone.
Also in the film Leia states "There is still Light in him, I know it." I mean this is her son she is talking about. And I'm wondering since they are both Force sensitive and are family, if they have a Force bond and Leia can feel her son's struggle.
So if I think Kylo Ren can be brought back to the Light, or maybe become more of a Grey Jedi (someone who uses the Dark and Light) how do I think it will happen. Perhaps the love of family will redeem him, like it did for Darth Vader. I think the people in bringing Kylo Ren back to the Light, will be Leia, Luke, and Rey.
I can't wait to see "The Last Jedi" in December, and see what happens to Kylo Ren and all of the other characters.
