Doctor Who and our new Doctor.

So today it was announced that the 13th Doctor is going to be Jodie Whittaker, the first woman to ever play the Doctor.
Now when it was announced I wasn't too surprised. Doctor Who has been testing the water's for awhile now, to see how the fans react to a male Timelord regenerating into a woman.

At first I couldn't wrap my mind around it. The Doctor is a man. However I wasn't against a woman playing the Doctor, as long as she was the best person for the role.
Now Chris Chibnall, the new showrunner of Doctor Who, said that he wanted a female Doctor.
I do have high hopes for the next season, since Chris Chibnall also wrote Broadchurch. Jodie Whittaker has also been in Broadchurch, and I liked her in that.
I do hope however that since the Doctor is now a woman, that instead of a female companion, we have a male companion. Yes the Doctor has had male companion's in the past, but the Doctor has had more female companions.
I also just want a male companion, because I think it would be a good balance. Whereas when the Doctor was a man, and had his female companions they created a good balance and contrast.
I feel like it could be too much with two women in it. Or it could be great. I also hope they give Jodie more then one companion.
I have read some of the comments on social media, and you have the fans who say they are no longer going to watch the show. Then you have the fans who are really happy, and call the other fans who don't like a female Doctor sexist..........even though some of them are women.
Honestly whovian's let's give Jodie Whittaker a chance.
The only thing that wouldn't make me like her is if she is too politically correct, talks about how she is a woman all the time, or if she better then all of her male past selves.
Though I don't think Chibnall will do that, because there really isn't any pc in Broadchurch.
I'm also hoping that the Doctor will actually act like a woman. I'm wondering if they will make the Doctor more sensitive to people's feelings, and just people in general.
I hope they do, because it would be great parallel to see the same thing that happened to Missy this last season, happen to the Doctor next season.
Also this last season of Doctor Who did not do well in ratings, so maybe Jodie Whittaker is what Doctor Who needs. A breath of fresh air.
I can't wait to see the Christmas Special where we will get our first glimpse of our new Doctor, Jodie Whittaker.

Why I Think Kylo Ren Will Be Redeemed.

Kylo Ren the villain everyone loves to make fun of.
He is also the person a lot of Star Wars fans hate, because (seriously if you haven't seen "The Force Awakens" yet, this is a big spoiler so turn away now, if you don't want any spoilers) he killed his father Han Solo.
Now this act made a lot of people hate Kylo Ren, and made them believe that he could never be redeemed.
However if Luke can forgive and redeem his father, after everything Darth Vader did, why can't the same happen for Darth Vader's grandson.
In "The Force Awakens" we see that Kylo Ren is struggling with the Light side. Or in his words "The pull to the Light."
I know some people don't like Kylo Ren, but he is probably my favorite character to come out of "The Force Awakens", because he is such a complex and interesting character.
We see in the film someone who wants to be on the Darkside, but is also drawn to the Light. We see him feel conflicted, by this pull to the Light.
In the movie however all of Kylo Ren's actions are from the Darkside, even though the Light is calling him.
If you still think Kylo Ren is pure evil, and was planning on killing his father the whole time, I want you to consider what J.J. Abrams said about the scene on the bridge. J.J. Abrams said (and I'm paraphrasing) that he thinks Kylo Ren was actually being convinced to leave the Darkside, and go with Han.
Also if you think Kylo Ren was overjoyed when he killed Han, then are we even watching the same movie?

Seriously look at his face! This is right after he killed Han, does he look happy?
Also in the adult novelization right after Kylo Ren kills Han it says this. "Stunned by his own action, Kylo Ren fell to his knees. Following through on the act ought to have made him stronger, a part of him believed. Instead, he found himself weak."(paragraph 2 page 245)
Does that sound like a man who has no good in him and can not be redeemed? I mean he falls on his knees shocked that he actually killed his father. Sure he killed Han to become stronger in the Darkside, but it backfired on him, it made him weaker.
Also in the adult novelization, right after Kylo Ren tried to interrogate Rey, we get a very interesting conversation between Supreme Leader Snoke and Kylo Ren.
"There was as much curiosity in Supreme Leader Snoke's voice as there was disappointment.
"This scavenger-this girl-resisted you?"
"That's all she is, yes. A scavenger from that inconsequential Jakku. Completely untrained, but strong with the Force. Stronger than she knows."
His mask off, Ren replied with what seemed his usual assurance. No one else would have sensed a difference. Snoke did.
The Supreme Leader's voice was flat.
"You have compassion for her."
"No-never. Compassion? For an enemy of the Order?"
"I perceive the problem," Snoke intoned. "It isn't her strength that is making you fail. It's your weakness."
(paragraphs 2-4 page 207)
So from that conversation we learn that Kylo Ren has empathy for Rey. I mean a person who was totally on the Darkside wouldn't have compassion for anyone.
Also in the film Leia states "There is still Light in him, I know it." I mean this is her son she is talking about. And I'm wondering since they are both Force sensitive and are family,  if they have a Force bond and Leia can feel her son's struggle.
So if I think Kylo Ren can be brought back to the Light, or maybe become more of a Grey Jedi (someone who uses the Dark and Light) how do I think it will happen. Perhaps the love of family will redeem him, like it did for Darth Vader. I think the people in bringing Kylo Ren back to the Light, will be Leia, Luke, and Rey.
I can't wait to see "The Last Jedi" in December, and see what happens to Kylo Ren and all of the other characters.
